Ready or Not...

As we're about to enter what is hopefully our third and final month of quarantine, you may have noticed shortness of tempers from yourself or the people around you and/or cherished items either breaking or getting lost. It felt to me like a Mercurial retrograde but when I looked into that possibility it was incorrect. This phenomenon was actually due to the new moon that occurred on Friday, May 22nd of this year. During changes in moon phases, emotions are usually heightened.

Even though this wasn't a Mercurial retrograde I couldn't help but recall an outstanding article that I read once in the Witch's Almanac. The year of the piece escapes me. But it said, when we don't find our car keys or our phone suddenly dies after a full charge that it was Mercury himself trying to get our attention. He was trying to help us remember the things that are important in our lives. The article went on to say that we can create a more positive inner dialogue by using more positive "re" words such as recreate, reevaluate or regroup. By doing so we can turn a stressful, monotonous or tedious experience into something that is positive and memorable.

I feel that being a witch makes it easier to be more relaxed when we're all being tested. When you can picture The Gods and Goddesses in your mind, you bring them closer to you. Before I integrated Wicca into my life and things would go wrong I used to panic. But now that I'm a Wiccan I can just picture Mercury in my mind's eye, tell him I understand what he's doing and why, thank him for the lesson and ask him to treat me with gentleness.

As we hope for a prosperous reopening by midsummer, the next time that Mercury comes into our lives he'll be a trusted, playful friend rather than a mischievous adversary.

Before I leave you, here are some friendly "re" minders: When you're outdoors, wear your mask. When you're home, practice gentle shielding against accidental emotional upset. Try your best to be diplomatic and forgiving, to others as well as yourself. Please don't forget, this site has a Facebook page. That's the easiest way to contact me with all your questions about Wicca Stay strong. Stay safe. We may all be practicing social distancing now but were still all walking with the Goddess together.
