It happened about fifteen years ago on a typical Sunday morning, when my Wiccan mentor told me, Wow! You are born female and handicapped! If that was it, those two strikes against would be more than enough. On top of that you were raised in a Jewish home and now you're Wiccan! You're in for a hell of a fight, Sister!" First, I told my mentor that being raised the way i was, made me very aware of and compassionate toward the suffering of all people I continued with confidence. "i think I'm doing pretty well so far." I smiled.
"Indeed, you are." he replied.
To all those who have ever felt "othered", for any reason or bunch of reasons. To all those who are facing sexism, racism or prejudice in any form, I am here to remind you that you are not alone. for I stand with you. I am always right by your side.
Should our view of what lies ahead become obscured by the fog of mundane responsibility. The Goddess can see our struggles. She sees us every day. She helps find our courage and the fuel that we need to continue the fight.
The Goddess is who reminds us all not to give up our quest for acceptance and coexistence, if not not normalization. She knows we are all exhausted. She knows how hopeless the fight seems at times. Goddess gives us all the courage we need to stand and face those who speak and act against us. I just know that no matter how or when we are called to defend ourselves or our loved ones, we will all keep "Walkin' with The Goddess."
