In response to the riots that have been happening around the world, I would like to discuss what it means to be emotionally responsible for yourself. When I watch footage of the riots and I see close friends posting videos about how far they would go to defend their home and their loved ones I couldn't help but remember some very basic and early lessons. I am certain that you also remember a time in school when if one person got in trouble, the entire class had to keep their heads down for the next ten minutes with the lights off. This shows that the actions of one troubled person could affect the rest. When I kept seeing how afraid and how angry everyone was I couldn't help but think about this.

I am just as frustrated as any of you. It’s hard to get an answer from the people you trust when information changes by the hour. As the cities and towns around us begin to open up I feel its important to remember that the people that you interact with don't necessarily know what kind of day you're having. So before you leave your home take a few deep breathes and keep your objective for the day in the forefront of your mind and do your best to stay relaxed even though it may be hard right now.

Let's continue by talking about how to protect ourselves against accidental or intentional attacks. We're all excited and anxious about things opening. We must also be mindful that all of us can be very nervous and afraid as well. A good visualization to use at this time is to imagine yourself in a clear plastic raincoat. This way, any derision against you can slide right off without having any lasting emotional impact on you. If you go into the world angry while it's understandable it is also very dangerous. Anger is very easy to spread but not so easy to cleanse. The actions of one angry person can affect us all. Always do you best to use compassion over confrontation if you do, we can all keep walking with the Goddess.
